Hope Lives Here · Morocco

A place of safety.
A future with hope.

Our sanctuary work in Morocco has already begun. Inspired by Hope, her brother Pokito, and her sister Nala, we are caring for vulnerable cats—and now urgently need a larger home, especially for blind cats and those who require regular assistance.

Proposed Moroccan sanctuary concept with separate cat housing, assisted-care courtyards, a veterinary area, isolation space, and caregiver facilities

The concept we’re working to build

Different needs.
Thoughtful spaces for care.

We have identified a farm and are working toward purchasing and preparing it. This concept illustrates how a larger home could support the animals’ different needs. The final layout will depend on the property, available resources, and advice from veterinary and animal-care professionals.

Veterinary & treatment area

A dedicated space for examinations, treatment, and coordination with veterinary professionals.

Intake & isolation

Separate areas for new arrivals and cats who need to be kept apart during care.

Assisted-care housing

Calm, accessible spaces for blind cats and those needing regular help, with low ramps and predictable pathways.

Cat homes & secure outdoor areas

Comfortable housing with shaded, enclosed spaces for movement, play, and rest.

Quiet recovery spaces

Protected areas where recovering cats can rest away from busier activity.

Daily-care facilities

Practical space for food storage, laundry, supplies, and the caregivers who make daily care possible.

Why this work matters

The rescue is only
the beginning.

An animal’s needs rarely end at the moment it is taken off the street. Injury can mean a course of treatment. Illness can mean weeks of patient attention. Disability can mean learning how to offer comfort and support over a lifetime.

Hope Lives Here is already putting that understanding into practice. The animals in our care need shelter, treatment, and daily attention. As we responded to their needs, it quickly became clear that our current space could not hold the full promise of this work.

There are so many more Hopes out there, waiting for someone to notice and help. This project is our way of turning that concern into a lasting commitment.

The care we are building toward

Protect. Heal. Sustain.

These priorities guide the care already underway and the larger sanctuary we are working to make possible.

01 · SAFETY

A protected place.

Secure shelter, a calm place to rest, and spaces designed around animals’ wellbeing. A setting where vulnerable animals can be cared for with patience and attention.

02 · RECOVERY

Care that follows through.

Access to veterinary treatment and rehabilitation, with the feeding, medication, observation, and follow-up that recovery may require.

03 · CONTINUITY

Support beyond a crisis.

Nourishment, comfort, and ongoing care for animals whose needs continue, including those living with illness or disability.

THE ANIMALS AT THE HEART OF IT

Three siblings.
A shared purpose.

Hope’s rescue brought the demands of animal care into sharp focus. Seriously ill and weighing just over one pound when found, she needed weeks of treatment and daily support. When her eye worsened, surgery became necessary.

Her brother Pokito and sister Nala live with a condition affecting their back legs. Together, the siblings remind us that illness and disability do not diminish the value of a life.

The care they have received helped inspire a larger question: how can that same commitment reach other animals who have no safe place to turn?

BUILDING RESPONSIBLY

A larger home.
An urgent next step.

Our rescue and care work began with cats, and we quickly needed much more space. Blind cats and animals needing regular assistance deserve an environment shaped around their safety, comfort, and continuing care.

We have identified a farm and are working toward purchasing it and preparing it for the animals’ needs. Your support can help make this larger home possible while sustaining the care already underway.

This expansion is about both the animals depending on us today and those still waiting for help. Please contact SILAH before planning a visit, volunteering in person, or bringing an animal, so we can discuss current arrangements and capacity.

Before you make plans

A few practical questions.

Is the sanctuary open to visitors?

Our sanctuary work is already underway, and we are pursuing a larger farm location. Please contact SILAH before planning a visit to discuss current arrangements.

Can I volunteer or request help for an animal?

You are welcome to inquire. Opportunities and any ability to help an animal depend on current needs, resources, and capacity. Contacting SILAH first allows us to discuss what may be possible.

How do I direct a donation to the sanctuary?

Open our giving page, continue to Zeffy, and select Animal Rescue & Sanctuary in the fund menu. You can choose a one-time or monthly gift.
