Rooted in faith.
Moved by compassion.
Shining Islam’s Light Across Humanity. Our name expresses a belief that mercy should become visible through the way we serve, care, and take responsibility.
Connection
with a purpose.
SILAH brings together two ideas at the heart of our work: the connection between people, and the light that faith can bring into the lives of others through service.
Connection can begin with noticing a need. It grows when concern leads to action, when someone offers a hand, and when that first act becomes a commitment to keep caring.
We want SILAH to be a place for that kind of connection—bringing generosity, skills, and shared purpose to the needs of vulnerable children and animals.
A commitment
to children.
SILAH was created with orphan support at its heart. The purpose was to help bring care, stability, and opportunity into the lives of children facing vulnerability.
That beginning gave our work a lasting foundation: dignity matters, compassion brings responsibility, and a life should be seen for its possibilities as well as its immediate needs.
Our founding commitment continues to guide us as the organization grows.

A wider responsibility.
Hope’s rescue brought another need close to home. Found seriously ill on the street, she needed weeks of treatment, feeding support, and daily attention. Zineb cared for her at home, and surgery became necessary when her eye worsened.
Hope survived. Her brother Pokito and sister Nala, who live with a condition affecting their back legs, are also part of this family of care.
Their experiences helped inspire Hope Lives Here. Our sanctuary and care work in Morocco has already begun, and we quickly recognized the need for a larger space—especially for blind cats and those requiring regular assistance. There are many more animals like them still waiting for help.

Compassion calls
us to act.
Supporting a child and caring for an animal involve different needs, knowledge, and responsibilities. We want to honor those differences while keeping the values that connect them clear.
Both ask us to look beyond ourselves. Both ask us to respond to vulnerability with patience and respect. Both remind us that the value of a life is not determined by how easily it can ask for help.
That is the connection at the heart of SILAH.
Faith expressed
through service.
Our Islamic values shape our intention and the way we want the work to grow.
Faith
Let belief become a reason to act with mercy, generosity, and responsibility toward others.
Connection
Bring people together around a shared willingness to help and a commitment to meaningful care.
Sincerity
Approach service with honest intentions, humility, and attention to the needs of those receiving care.
Gratitude
Recognize what we have been given and seek ways to turn those blessings into good for others.
Equality
Serve with humility and respect, recognizing the worth of every person and the responsibility to treat animals humanely.
A growing mission.
A lasting commitment.
SILAH is a Hawaiʻi nonprofit corporation with a purpose that includes charitable, educational, humanitarian, and animal welfare activities. Our sanctuary work in Morocco continues alongside our founding commitment to orphan support.
We have identified a farm and are working toward purchasing it and preparing it for the animals’ needs. Your support can help make this larger home possible while sustaining the care already underway.
You can be part of that chapter by giving, sharing relevant expertise, introducing a potential partner, or helping others discover the work.
